The Shell International Classic series brings the famous pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim to London to play all five of Beethoven’s piano concertos in an event classical music lovers - and those with just a passing interest - will not want to miss. Daniel Barenboim was last at the Royal Festival Hall in 2008 when he performed Beethoven’s piano sonatas – a performance universally judged by critics as ‘one of the musical events of the decade’.
This time, Barenboim conducts the five piano concertos from the piano keyboard, juxtaposing them against Schoenberg's orchestral music. There is no doubt that Daniel Barenboim’s playing and conducting of Beethoven’s work has gained a status that few classical music performers can ever hope to aspire to.
