The world premiere on 9th March of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s long awaited sequel to The Phantom of the Opera is sure to be a glamorous affair attended by numerous celebrities. There are previews of the show from 20th February, although tickets may well be very hard to obtain at this stage. Love Never Dies picks up the Phantom from his world below the Paris Opera House and transports him ten years later to the fairgrounds of Colney Island, New York. The other characters of the The Phantom of the Opera also appear in the sequel, with the addition of the 10 year old son of Christine and Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny.
You might feel that with a 6 month run planned now you have plenty of time but if just a small proportion of those who have seen the Phantom of the Opera in its staggering 23 year run want to see the follow on, tickets should be expected to sell out very fast. After the World Premiere in London, Love Never Dies will launch on Broadway on 11th November and will then launch in Sydney early in 2011.
Travel: Take the Piccadilly Line from South Kensington tube station to Covent Garden for the short walk to the Adelphi Theatre.
